What is Canine Influenza (flu)?

Canine flu has been diagnosed in the Houston area and we are taking necessary precautions to protect your dogs! Grand Parkway Animal Hospital offers the Canine Flu Vaccine at our facility!

Canine flu is an emerging form of kennel cough. Like other forms of kennel cough, it is very contagious and is a respiratory infection that is transmitted through direct and indirect contact between dogs. It can be spread quickly through the air (coughing and sneezing), licking, and via contaminated surfaces (sharing toys or when someone picks up the virus on their hands, then pets a dog). It may cause serious illness such as pneumonia.
